Additional Kiwanis Relay Pics
Grasshopper, this is a Magic Pole. Let me show you.
Once you touch it to the ground it will try to pick you up and fling you through the air.
Hmm. Still not getting it.
I think we are going to win this sitting contest. Look all of the other teams have gotten up and left.
Dude, don't make me laugh. If you are going to joust, you need a horse.
It is close.
I can get a pretty good view from up in this tree.
Okay, you caught me. The tree thing did sound more adventurous though didn't it?
Plenty of room.
Not gonna make it.
Need to catch up.
Made up some ground.
But..
..not enough.
A sunny jump.
Everybody gather round.
Coaching from the side.
Up.
And over.
But it fell. This happens on the next one too. I think the bag was touching the standard and actually knocked the bar off.
Up.
And over.
Then the bar falls.
Finishing first.
Good thing that is not the way they do hand offs in the relays or their times would be slower.
Official: If you look over that way you will see that the track goes over there and then it loops all the way back around to here. Now any questions?
Lining them up.
Should learn the girls secret. It would help you. (See the secret in a few pics.)
What?
Go!
Now for the girls secret. They run above the ground. This way there is a lot less resistance and it cuts down on injuries as well.
They do it in the long jump too, but it is not as pronounced when running. They don't want the other teams to figure it out.
Here is another look at it. Just keep your feet above the ground.
Ugh. He is giving away our coaching secrets for everyone to see.
Sprint to the line.
That is what 26.43 versus 26.45 looks like.
Getting closer to the end.
You stop that.
Turn around. The track is the other way.
The parents were certainly enjoying the weather.
I had to post this one, the look is priceless, but I'll let you come up with your own caption.
Is it time to go home yet?
So, you really think I am going to believe the track meet is in the other direction. Don't think I'll fall for it that easy.
The marching 100 meter.
Hey buddy, you took my seat. Get out of there.
It's just about over.
The final lap.
Not enough to catch them. The one kid on the other team wanted to say, Hi Mom.
