The Lost Contact. (A Short Story)
Someone lost a contact. Once someone loses a contact, of course the whole team is going to help in the search.
They searched...
..and they search.
They asked others, if they had seen a contact.
The timekeepers and even the opponents were concerned.
People looked as they talked.
People searched for so long they had to get help to stand up straight.
People were checking every blade of grass. Even checking the weeds along the hillside.
They even looked...
...as they ran.
They looked while pole vaulting.
Some were upset by the incident.
Some tried to think of other places that might have been overlooked.
Where they had searched, they thought maybe they should search again.
And they did.
The coaches strategized how to proceed.
They organized search parties.
And instructed the atheletes on proper search techniques.
Even a parent came forward to volunteer in the search.
Leaving no stone unturned, they even checked to see if it may have become lodged in the trophy.
They searched at every opportunity.
Parents told their kids to go back, that it would not be right to leave until the contact was found.
After hours and hours of searching Teamwork prevailed and everyone rejoiced as the contact was recovered.
The coaches individually thanked everyone that took place in the search and were proud of the Teamwork displayed by the young athletes. The coaching staff had worked long and hard all season long to instill such teamwork.
So, if you are going to lose a contact and hope to have any chance of getting it back, a track meet is a good place to do it.
It has been a busy, quick, and at times, a cold and wet track season. It has been fun providing some light-hearted pics along the way.
I hope everyone has a great summer! Maybe you can check back in the fall for some 9th grade football.
