Dear Player/Parents,
It is football time again. The summer has come and gone pretty fast. Hopefully you have worked hard to get in shape for the season by getting in the weight room and running on your own. This is a short note to visit with you about the upcoming season and some dates and events that are important for you and your team. The start of a new freshman football season at Simonsen is always exciting. We have a very challenging schedule for this year's team. We, together, will find out if we are up to the task of going undefeated. We will be having voluntary workouts starting Monday, August 1st at 5:30pm until 6:30pm. These will run through Thursday, August 4th same time each night at Simonsen field and track. These workouts will be mostly conditioning workouts and help prepare you for the opening practice on August 8th. We will also have a team meeting on Friday, August 5th, at 8:00am at the Simonsen practice field and locker room to touch base before practice starts and take care of checking out pants and pant pads. Please try to be at this meeting. If you haven't gotten a physical exam yet you better get moving. Remember that Capital Region will be offering physicals again on August 2nd, from 5:30pm to 8:30pm for only $20.00. You must call ahead and schedule the physical and parental consent is required. The number to call is 632-5590. Players that miss practice because they don't have a physical will make up each practice missed with running. Players that come out late will make up each practice missed with running.
Two-A-Day practices will begin Monday, August 8th, at 8am sharp at the Simonsen practice field. Evening practices will be from 5:30pm to 8:15pm that week. It is essential that players attend two-a-day practices. In order to beat Rockhurst we must outwork them. Our team effort starts on the 8th of August. If you have any questions please call me or the other freshman coaches and we will try to help. The coaches will be starting work for the season August 1st and will be working at the high school, middle schools and Simonsen from 8:00am to 4:00pm. You can call the high school at 659-3076 if you need to call us or leave a message at one of our home phones. We look forward to working with you this season and seeing if we can hang an undefeated banner in the gym for the 20005 football season. Thank You, Coach Padgett

The following week will have some variable practice schedule times because of teacher meetings, open house at Simonsen and any other start of school meetings. The schedule for the week of August 15th-August 19th will be discussed as it gets closer.
