Top-ranked Bruins dismantle turnover-prone Jays, 49-28

It’s been said that paybacks are heck - or something thereabouts - and the top-ranked Rock Bridge football team appeared to be doing its best to avenge at least one of its long-ago routs at the hands of the Jefferson City Jays in the final seconds of Friday’s 49-28 win at Adkins Stadium.

"I finally got a chance on the second penalty to go grab Mike and say, ‘I’m going to kill you if you don’t kneel on the ball,’ " Ofodile said, with barely a hint of a smile.

Although the Jefferson City football program developed a bit of a reputation for running up the score in its heyday under legendary Coach Pete Adkins, Ofodile wanted it made clear that he had no intention of ringing up another score on the Jays and Coach Ted LePage.

Besides, there’s no sense in waking a sleeping giant. Although the Jays fell to 2-3 on the season, Ofodile believes there’s a good chance the two teams could meet again later in the year in a Class 6 semifinal.
