JC Jays to meet BSS Jags

The Jays win to move on to play the top ranked team in the state in the Semi-Final.

The Jays need to bring on their best game sans turnovers to make sure there is no doubt in the Jaguars minds and others that the Jays deserve to be in the hunt for the championship.

Corrected post. I had the coach with the wrong team. Thanks for the correction jagfan

A quote in the Kansas City Star by Blue Springs Head Coach Kelly Donohoe regarding their loss to Blue Springs South:

“To me,” Donohoe said, “this was the state championship game.”

Jaguars Junior tight end Kellen Bartlett, seems to understand the implications of the coming game:

“You really have to take it one game at a time, so I can’t overlook next week. That will be as big of a game as this week.”

Weather Conditions look to be favorable.

In the paper:

News Tribune

The win is the fifth straight for the Jays (7-4), who advance to meet top-ranked Blue Springs South (11-0) in the semifinals at 7 p.m. next Friday in Blue Springs.

Rose blocked the punt attempt of Ben Licklider and the ball bounced out of the end zone for a safety, getting the Spartans within 16-2 with 10:02 left in the third quarter.

But the Jays held the Spartans scoreless the rest of the way, and tacked on two touchdowns by Wilson, on runs of 1 and 4 yards, to win going away.

Kansas City Star

The Jaguars, No. 1 in the state, playing the No. 2 Wildcats for the championship. Well, OK. According to the Missouri State High School Activities Association bracket, this was the quarterfinal round. But with these great teams meeting so early in the playoffs, everything else will seem like a postscript on a championship run.

Players couldn’t help but have Dome on the brain.

On this night for hot cocoa and long underwear, Blue Springs South players stayed on the field as long as they could celebrating the big win. It’s nicer inside the Dome, doesn’t snow inside there. The Jags should expect to move their celebrations soon to the climate-controlled Edward Jones Dome.

Point of Clarification:
Greg Oder is the BLue Springs South High School Coach, not Kelly
Donohoe. Donohoe is the coach of the team that lost the quarterfinal match, Blue Springs High School. He was quoted by the Kansas City Star after his team lost to Blue Springs South 28-24.
