Quarterfinal Matchups 11/13/2009

Jefferson City Jays vs DeSmet Spartans

Depending on polls, undefeated DeSmet is ranked a spot or two above the Jays, so this will not be a cakewalk. This is where a mistake here or there could easily be the difference in the game. Fumbles that have plagued the Jays a bit recently will need to be a thing of the past. Some may contend that DeSmet has had an easier schedule, and thus the poll numbers may be inflated a bit, but the Spartans have held six of their opponents scoreless and averaged almost 49 points per game. The Jays may be the first real test for the Spartans, although they will have home field advantage on their side. Jefferson City Sports predicts this one slightly in favor of the Jays, if they can contain the fumbles and convert a few when caught in 3rd and long.

Rockhurst Hawklets vs Blue Springs Wildcats

These two having played once in regular season with Rockhurst the victor by a score of 17-3, one would expect this to be a hard fought game. Having the home field advantage on their worn turf, Jefferson City Sports predicts Rockhurst will hold off Blue Springs to advance to the semifinals. The winner of this game will meet the winner of the Jays-DeSmet game.

Oakville Tigers vs Fox Warriors

Rather closely matched, but Jeffeson City Sports predicts that Oakville could pull out the win.

Hazelwood Central Hawks vs Lafayette Lancers

Judging by the polls Jefferson City Sports would expect the Hawks to fly away with this one.
