Drop-off and Pick-up

Note sent out by school:

A reminder to parents and students:

Jefferson City Jay Football Games - Drop-off and Pick-up

All Jefferson City Public School District students (grades 6 - 12) are required to have their school ID for admittance to Jay football games (and other sporting events). Students are required to enter at the Jackson Street entrance on the west end of the stadium. Parents and general spectators may enter at the Jackson St. entrance as well, but students must enter there.

The student section has also moved to the west end of the stadium. There is also a new scanning system that will be used at all of the entrances to the stadium.

Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. for the home opener this Friday, August 27,as it is Central Bank Tailgate Night.

After game pickup: Please plan to pick up your child no later than 15minutes after the football game ends (games are typically aired on KWOS 950AM and/or KLIK 1240 AM). The students should be picked up on Jackson Street outside of the student gate.

We'd also like to remind those attending the games that backpacks are not permitted.

Roundabout Complete

Construction on the roundabout by the high school (Stadium & Lafayette) is complete. Judging by the few I saw trying to make it through the roundabout last night, one might want to take their kid over and have them try it out rather than just being subjected to it on the first day of school. Could be an interesting, if not scary, place to stand and watch on the first day of school. It seems hard for some not to try to turn left.

Not Much

Not much to post lately, but there are other sports in action, such as Varsity Basketball, although they are unfortunately having a year much like I did my senior year in Rolla when we went 5-20. You can catch up with their scores and other sports, such as wrestling on the schools JeffersonCitySports.org website.

The Winter Sports Dance took place on January 24th.

And some Jefferson City High School students took part in the "We The People" competition at the Truman Hotel and Convention Center. Jefferson City took 3rd in the event.

JCPS Sports Page

Did you see that Jefferson City Public Schools has a new Sports Page? You can find it at JeffersonCitySports.org.

It is hosted by Big Teams, which specializes in hosting athletic websites. Based on the advertising that displays along the right side of the site (not shown - these ads are sold by Big Teams), one would guess that the school district went with the Best Seller option of $100 setup and $50/mo hosting. The site states that Boosters and/or Schools (basically the entity that purchased the site) can sell advertisements on the top of the page. The ads typically range from $600-$2,000 per ad, per year.

Update: 12/08/2008 It looks like the ads along the right are not showing up anymore, so maybe the site has been upgraded to the no ad site.

No JC Public Schools Today (02-21-2008)

Kind of interesting. The hotline (573-635-5277) has been updated and so has the webpage, but I have not received a text from the texting service this morning stating that schools are closed. Good thing to have the other resources available.
