Football: Jays frosh win
FLORRISANT, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays freshman football team opened up the season Monday with an 18-14 win over McCluer North. The Jays trailed 14-2 at the half, before Jarred Johnson scored on a 1-yard run. Johnson ran in the first of his two-point conversions to cut McCluer North's lead to 14-10. In the fourth quarter, Carter Stephenson scored on a 20-yard fumble recovery to give the Jays the win. Jervontyae Warmack blocked an extra point, while Billy Brehe had one sack. Jefferson City is back in action on Sept. 11 at Oakland Junior.
