Jays Drop a Close One

The Stadium was ready for game time, but the Jays came up a bit short. Arkansas returning 7A State Champs, the Fayetteville Bulldogs, dealt the Jays their first loss of the season. Final score - 42-37.

Also of note, Blue Springs South lost to RayPec by a score of 20-19 and Rockhurst lost to Blue Springs on Saturday by a score of 28-21.

Bulldogs slip past Jays in debut of renovated Adkins Stadium

The first game at the new and improved stadium was an offensive slugest, as the Jays rolled up 514 total yards and the Bulldogs had 516.

The game was also sloppy - the Jays (2-1) ranked No. 4 in Class 6 - had four turnovers and committed 14 penalties for 105 yards.

The Bulldogs (2-0) - the defending Class 7A state champions and ranked No. 2 in Arkansas - had three turnovers and 14 penalties for 119 yards.

Fayetteville defense turns up pressure in second half

"This offense that they run is so hard to get ready for in a week's time," Harris said. "I really think it took our kids time to settle in and figure out what they were doing. We challenged them a little bit and got after them [at the half ]. We overcame some adversity and I'm very proud of them."
