From Oops! Let's revisit Hickman's playoff hopes:
Upon further review, just about any win by Hickman (4-5, 1-1) over Jefferson City (6-2, 2-0) on Friday would clinch the Kewpies a playoff spot. The only way Hickman would not advance with a win over Jefferson City is if the Kewpies won by one point and Fort Zumwalt West (7-2, 1-1) won by one point over Troy (4-5, 0-2). In this unlikely scenario, Jefferson City would win the district title and Zumwalt West would claim the second spot by virtue of its head-to-head victory over Hickman.
So if Zumwalt West wins by more than one point (highly likely) or loses all together to Troy (in your dreams, Trojans), all Hickman has to do to advance to the playoffs is upset the Jays by one measly point. If Zumwalt West wins by two or more points and Hickman wins by any margin, FZW is the district champion via the 13-point tiebreaker and Hickman is the runner-up based on its head-to-head win over Jefferson City. If Zumwalt West actually loses to Troy (again, don't count on it) and Hickman beats the Jays by any margin, Hickman would be the district champion and Jefferson City would be the runner-up.
Go Jays!
