Photos from the game against Rockhurst

It all started with the warm-up dance.
#24: "Hey I don't have a partner for this dance."

Rockhurst was a little to self-conscious to try the new slow dance warm-up.

This might be worth trying. Everybody on offense grab a ball.

Quarterback tryouts.

Hmm.

A little weak on accuracy.

Try again.

If he wouldn't have ducked he would have been hit in the head. Sorry, you still need some work. Try again.

That's a bit better coach, but you would think after the years of practice you would do a bit better.

Now why are all of the football players looking in this direction. Parents I am afraid that they are getting to be that age. Hey, even though they don't believe it, you were a Freshmen once (well, hopefully just once).

Wait a second guys, you need to let the other team play too. They didn't come all the way from Kansas City for nothing.

Hey, anyone got a quarter?

Jays will receive. And the good news is not that the parents just saved a lot of money on car insurance, but they just saved a lot of money on gas because they didn't have to drive to Kansas City for this game.

There was some open field during the game...

..but not for long.

Go Jays!

Watch out, he has that camera again.

It's up..

..and unfortunately..

..it's an interception.

Now, going back..

..the other way.

Many in the stands thought it was rather warm and most didn't even have on pads and helmets.

It was a clear day.

There were a few Rockhurst fans making the trip to the Capital City. They were filling out thier bankruptcy paperwork after filling up their tanks for the trip down.

It's up..

..up..

..and through for the extra point.

Last time at the scrimmage a soccer game broke out..

..this time at the game it looks as though a track meet broke out.

Have you ever noticed how some of the Freshmen girls (women) just seem to float above the ground.

It is a little scary.

Really.

See what I mean. I think they have been hanging around David Blaine to much.

Coach is looking on.

Now the cheerleaders are checking the guys out.

And they are pretending not to notice.

Okay coach, we're going to time you. Go!

Faster.

Faster!

I had heard that all of the budget cuts have really played a part in the literacy problem at Rockhurst..

..and now we have witnessed just how bad it really is.

The boys played hard in the heat..

..running..

..and running..

..and hitting.

Now what was the reason for calling it a dead ball again?

I do believe the ball hit the ground before he did.

What is that saying. Wait, I remember. Word!

I dare you to go tackle one of their players with that thing.

Takin em down.

Shouldn't that be a penalty on the ref for hitting a player with the flag?

3rd Down.

The kids did have some good plays.

And broke up what would have been good plays for Rockhurst.

but Rockhurst still got the needed points.

Rockhurst sideline.

Water!

Go.

Don't go!

Hang on.

Now the old bar stool stance is like this.

Where did that 2nd grader come from?

Going up?

Now that would be a nice call from the ground, but I don't think the ref is going to fall for it and call it a touchdown.

Huddle.

The classic coaching stance.

Punting it.

The Hawklets were triumphant. This time.

There was a bit of a crowd on hand.

The final score.

Everyone was a good sport.

And the boys will be getting ready for the next one.

It wasn't raining at Adkins Stadium, but people were trying to shield themselves from the sun.

Post game chat. Not exactly an IM kind of chat.

The stands.

Waiting to go home.

Even with the loss the boys still have some loyal fans.

Headed to the bus.

Reservations not needed for this one.

You just never know who you might see trying to get away from showing up on the blog.

Hey, stop that, it's over already.

And you never know how those Jays fans will step up to show their support.
