The Fayetteville Purple Bulldogs will know exactly where they stand after testing their mettle under the Friday night lights in Missouri's capital city. At approximately five hours and almost 300 miles, Friday's journey to Jefferson City, Mo., is an atypical sojourn for the defending state champions. It will be the longest road trip in the Daryl Patton era at Fayetteville and possibly the most arduous regular-season exam since facing the Springdale 5 in 2005.
While Jeff City coach Ted LePage labeled his offense "simple," you can't beat what you can't stop. And they have two ways to accomplish their opposition's annihilation.
The Purple Dogs just might have to pick their poison playing that kind of guessing game. Fayetteville might have to line up in a 5-5-1 to halt the ground game. So far no one has been able to stop the Jays (2-0 ) for four full quarters.
Heath's Prediction: Fayetteville 38, Jeff City 35.
