Is It Ready?
As tonight's game has been moved back they say the Stadium will be ready. Passing by at 8:45pm last night there were individuals working on the visitor seating and at a glance it looked like the only railing that might be missing was on the upper bleachers on the Jackson St side. I would guess they have been working on that today.

Jays’ and Crusaders’ first home football games blocked out
Jefferson City Schools Superintendent Bert Kimble said Thursday the Jays have reached an agreement with Lincoln University to play their Sept. 12 game against Fayetteville, Ark., at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.
“We’re going to move the first game ... because the track is incomplete,” Kimble explained. “The contract (allowed) for about 30 days of rain.”
But Mid-Missouri’s had 70-90 days of rain, delaying some of the construction work.

"We're going to move the first game to Lincoln University because the track is not complete," says Jefferson City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Bert Kimble. "Obviously you don't want to corrupt the integrity of the track by using it before it's completly done. Also don't want to void a warranty."
Kimble blames mother nature and turf installers on the missed deadline, not the track construction team.
Kimble says, despite days and days of rain this spring and summer, Jefferson City industries was only one day behind schedule, July 3 instead of July 2, in getting the project ready for the installation of field turf.

Jays enter state poll
The Jefferson City Jays climbed into the Class 6 state football poll released Wednesday.
The Jays, who opened the season Saturday with a 44-17 victory over McCluer North, are No. 5 in the rankings.
Springdale offers another big test for Jays
“We're not the biggest line out there, so we've got to be really, really good with our technique,” LePage said. “I felt like, at times, our technique was very good but at other times, we let down.
“But they did their job. And it was exciting to watch because as the game wore on, they got better. That's one thing I was really pleased with.”

“Our offense is ready to go,” Johnson said. “Ashton has been throwing the ball well, and we’re all excited about getting the season started.”

Adkins Stadium 8/30/2008
Progress on the track (stadium) continues.
08-31-2008: It looks like they are about 3/4 of the way complete with the track surface.
09-02-2008: This morning it looked like the track surface is complete. Not sure if there are multiple layers or if all that is left is to get the markings in for the lanes. Work was also being done on the railing around the top of the new storage area.

Old Stadium
I thought I would repost from a 9/17/05 post. Not sure where Melissa filmed her portion at, but you can see some of the old Adkins Stadium (old field, old press box, etc.) in the video.

Jefferson City: Maybe it’s just an optical illusion after looking at Hickman 300-pound behemoths Josh Harvey and Conrad, but the Jays sure don’t look very big on the line. … Quarterback Brad Allen looked like he was in midseason form, though, and first-year senior receiver Kyrie Draine could be a big-play weapon.

After watching the Jefferson City Jays plow through the Yellowjackets defense using the power football, Christian has gone back to basics this week in hopes of preparing his football team for the Vikings.

“We have obviously got a lot of work to do against the inside run game,” Christian said. “Jeff City ran the football on us well.”

Friday Morning Lights
Workers continue working on the Stadium this morning under the lights. A bit of a foggy one this morning.

There was another semi truckload of large white bags. Not sure if it is actual sand or more of the rubberized sand.
It was mentioned at the mom's night out that the rubberized material has the same weight as sand and is professional grade, unlike many of the other fields around (I believe Blair Oaks and Rock Bridge were a couple mentioned). It is not suppose to fly up as much as what one sees at the other fields and is suppose to handle water better as well.
Looks like they are getting close to final touches.

Looking Good.

The sideline turf was put down, although it looks as though it still needs some work.

Steps were poured today.

Those running into the end zone might keep an eye out if running in the left corners...

as the play clocks look pretty close for those that might be carried on out of the end zone by their momentum. It looks to be about the same depth as the goal post, but I am not sure if there will be padding for them or not.

You might have wondered what the big white bags were lining the road.

They hold the small shredded black rubber that I believe gets mixed with sand and thrown on top of the turf. It is the stuff you see bouncing up in the air as the ball and players hit the ground. It also gets in shoes, clothes, hair, etc.

Not sure if this will be where the players enter the stadium similar to the old configuration or if something else is being done here.

Poles going up for the fencing, the track appears to have asphalt laid (not sure that the final surface has been done yet), still waiting for the turf also. A majority of the bleachers for the home crowd are done.

Last I heard they had planned for 60 days where they might not be able to work (rain, etc.), but they were 80 at that point and that was a few weeks ago.
It sounds like the backup plan if the Stadium would not be complete in time for the first home game would be to move it to Dwight T. Reed Stadium (Lincoln University's field).
